Here are some interesting facts about the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Pittsburgh Jazz and Fiddling Camp

In 2007:

Sixty two (62) people attended the camp.

Among them:

  • 16 students from the Pittsburgh area

  • One from Australia

  • One from Germany

  • 23 adults

  • 14 age 11-13

  • 21 age 14-18

  • 19 teachers (Public school teachers and private studio teachers)

  • 9 received graduate credit

In 2006:

Fifty five (55) people attended the camp. Among them were:

  • 18 participants age 14 and younger

  • 11 participants age 16-18

  • 26 adults            

  • 32 from the Pittsburgh area and close by

  • 20 from other states including NH, CT, WI, VT, VA, OH, Il, NY, ID,  NY, and 2 from Canada

6 people received graduate credit for attending

Among the adults (some fall into more than one group) were:

  • 1 member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

  • 1 violin performance major at Indiana University (Bloomington)

  • 9 professional free lance musicians

  • 7 adult amateur players

  • 16 teachers including:

    __3 private studio teachers

    __9 School Orchestra Directors

    __8 Elementary and Middle School String Teachers

    __10 teachers from the Greater Pittsburgh Area

In 2005

 

Forty-four (44) people attended the camp. Among them were:

  • 19 participants age 15 and younger

  • 6 participants age 16-18

  • 19 adults            

  • 33 from the Pittsburgh area and close by

  • 11 from other states including NH, CT, WI, MD, NY

  • 3 people received graduate credit for attending

  • 5 people received Act 48 credit for attending

  • The youngest participant celebrated his tenth birthday while he was at camp 

Among the adults (some fall into more than one group) were:

  • 7 professional free lance musicians

  • 1 violin performance major at Indiana University (Bloomington)

  • 5 adult amateur players

  • 13 teachers including:

    3 private studio teachers

    3 High School Orchestra Directors

    4 Middle School Orchestra Directors

    3 Elementary and Middle School String Teachers

    9 teachers from the Greater Pittsburgh Area
