Blues 101—DAVID WALLACE

12-bar blues is essential to many musical styles: jazz, rock, R & B, folk, country, (and obviously, BLUES!). In this hands-on, interactive workshop, you will: Internalize blues form (So that you never lose your place again!), Write your own original blues lyrics, Learn and practice the basic blues chord changes, Learn the blues scale and how to solo with it.
Listen to and analyze the blues artistry of musicians like Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles, Jam to backing tracks in different styles, including funk, bossa nova, and bebop. This workshop is open to all levels and is also great for teachers who want to teach the blues to others. Ensemble sheet music in all clefs (treble, alto, and bass) will be provided.
