This session explores how to arrange rock and pop songs for string ensembles while maintaining the essence and spirit of the original song. Learn how to convert bass and guitar riffs to strings, and how to make a song groove so hard, you don’t miss the drummer! If you’re an orchestra teacher, this class shows you how to save money and learn to write great arrangements for your students. If you are a working performer, we will also talk about how to monetize your arrangements. I will share shortcuts and helpful hints I’ve developed from years of trying to meet deadlines and working on a time constraint. We explore writing for string trios, quartets, and string orchestra with or without vocalists and rhythm sections.
